INDIAN arts COLLECTIVE
A Platform for India’s Living Artistic Traditions

INDIAN arts COLLECTIVE is a not for profit platform dedicated to artists working within India’s diverse living traditions. It provides a space to present, support, and expand the visibility of their practices.

The artists featured are recognised within their respective traditions, many of which have been practised within their families across generations. Grounded in lineages of inherited knowledge, their work reflects a deep engagement with material, technique, and cultural memory. At the same time, these practices are not static. Artists actively respond to contemporary realities, reinterpreting and transforming their inherited practices, thereby sustaining and reshaping living traditions.

Indian Arts Collective organises exhibitions, educational programmes and art projects that put the artists and their practices centre stage. Across all our initiatives, artists work in direct collaboration with communities, reflecting our belief that they are the most vital custodians and interpreters of these traditions.

Since its inception in 2017, INDIAN arts COLLECTIVE has presented exhibitions at leading venues including the Jehangir Art Gallery and the Coomaraswamy Hall at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya in Mumbai and at Mangalbag Gallery in Ahmedabad. Alongside these exhibitions, the Collective has organised collaborative art camps in Jammu and conducted workshop series in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Artists featured in the Collective’s programme are represented in major museum collections worldwide, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Mumbai, Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the British Museum, London, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
